About

Welcome to my blog site!

Take a look at snippets of my life – as wife and mother; as a Filipino expat in Brazil; my dreams, hobbies, and passions; my childhood; my experiments with food and recipes; my struggles and triumphs; and how God is teaching me the things that matter in this life in many and sometimes unexpected ways.

I’m Kathleen D. Solis, 31 years old and a communication specialist and writer. My educational training and work experience involves writing/editing, publications management, communication research, information campaigns, and corporate communications.

I’m also passionate about food, cooking, baking, and crafting – my hobbies.

I’m a mother to a 4-year-old bubbly little girl and wife to a loving husband who is a plant breeder/geneticist and loves sudoku.

In 2007, I moved here in Brazil together with my husband and daughter.  With that, I’m now taking the challenge of mastering the ins and outs of managing a household, more than I have ever done before.

Hi Kathleen!… I found your blog looking for images of Florianopolis, because I’m going there on my vacations, next March.
I don’t know why, but I started reading one of your articles, and I got interested in the things you say.
I’m working right now, so I don’t have much time, but at home I’ll be checking your blog again.
By the way… you have a wonderful family!
    Take care!

Hi! I found the website – http://www.tf.com.br/. You must have found it by now, too. I think there’s no email provided, only phone numbers of the stores. I hope it helps :-)

Hi! Just stumbled upon your blog! How is life in Brazil? I’ve been meaning to go there and was wondering how different it is from the Philippines, although Brazilians seem to be as warm and friendly as Filipinos. :-)

Hi, Cathy! Yes, Brazilians are friendly, fun-loving people. A Brazilian friend told me that every state is unique and altogether, they are small “countries” within a big country. There is a rich diversity in terms of food, people, climate, and even in their language, which is Portuguese. There’s a lot to appreciate here :-) And if you can speak some Portuguese, you’ll be able to make the most out of your visit.

    Hi,

Kamusta po. It’s nice to know there’s pilipino’s in Brazil. Karamihan kasi ng asian na nakilala/kita ko dyan ay Japanese descendant. Di ko alam meron palang mga pilipino na nakatira sa Brasil.

Quick self intro lang. I’m a Pilipino married to a Brasilian (from Rio Grande de Sul also) We’re currently living in Toronto, Canada but am always interested in moving to warmer climates.

Ano ba po processo para mag-immigrate sa Brasil?
