Let’s make quilt origami!

quilt

Quilt origami is fun and exciting! Aside from cooking, this is one of the things that soothe me and exercises my brain especially if I’m following a pattern that involves a lot of imagination.  Some origami patterns, even if we’ll illustrated, still require one to have a good imagination to know how one step could lead to the next.  It’s challenging.  My husband and I enjoy doing it together and my daughter is trying too!

I made one just recently and it’s pretty challenging.  The pattern I got from the Internet was just a set of pictures so it was even more challenging.  When I started with this, I got stuck in the middle of the process because I couldn’t imagine how one step led to the next.  I folded many times in different ways I could but still no progress.  I stopped, disappointed.  But could stop for so long and so after few minutes of trying to forget about it, I started folding again.

You can fold same color of paper or different colors and weave it together.  You can put the final product on a nice frame. Try it and have fun!

Never enough work?

Work can be addictive.  Sometimes you stay in the office longer than you should because you just can’t leave things undone and you want to do things in advance so that the following day, there’s less work.  But as you start working again the following day, you’ll want to accommodate more work, so that the next day would again be less toxic.  And so goes the cycle.

It’s difficult expecially for working moms who have kids to take care of, meals to cook, grocery items to buy, and leave some time for exercise if not to treat themselves with a good massage.

Irresistible chewy brownies

I love brownies! Yes, the chewy ones.  Here’s a recipe, which is a modification of one I got from the Internet recently.  Try it and love it! Yum!

Ingredients:

  • 1 2/3 c brown sugar
  • 3/4 c margarine, melted
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/3 c all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 c corn flakes, lightly crushed
  • powdered sugar (optional)

Procedure:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees C
  2. Combine sugar, water, and margarine in a bowl. Mix well.
  3. Stir in eggs and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Stir into sugar mixture.  Add corn flakes. Mix well.
  5. Pour batter into square pan and bake for about 45 min or until toothpick inserted at the middle comes out just little moist (not dry).
